Fuel Value Chain and Franchising Awareness Summit

Are you an entrepreneur, professional or aspiring business owner interested in understanding how you can participate in South Africa's fuel value chain?
Sasol, in partnership with Absa, invites prospective entrepreneurs from South Africa's coastal markets to apply to attend the Fuel Value Chain and Franchising Awareness Summit. The Summit is designed to provide prospective market entrants with practical insight into the fuel industry and the different pathways to participation.
From owning and operating a fuel retail franchise to property development and commercial fuel wholesale, participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the industry works, what it takes to participate and the funding and development support available.
No previous experience in the fuel industry is required. The Summit provides an opportunity to learn directly from Sasol, Absa, industry leaders and ecosystem partners across the fuel value chain.

Who Should Apply?
Individuals and majority Black-owned enterprises in KwaZulu-Natal and surrounding provinces, including the Eastern Cape, Free State and Mpumalanga, who are interested in:

Owning and operating a fuel retail franchise;

|
| • |
Exploring commercial property or fuel retail development opportunities, including applicants who own or have access to land;
|
|
| • |
Entering the fuel wholesale or commercial fuel market; or
|
|
| • |
Building their understanding of the industry before pursuing a future business or investment opportunity.

WHO QUALIFIES?
Entrepreneurs

Must be small business owners with a business registered with CIPC.
|
|
| • |
Business must be a majority Black-owned enterprise. Priority will be given to the following ownership profiles:

Black Women-Owned (AIC) or Youth-Owned.
|

|
Individuals
The following profiles will be prioritised:

Youth (up to 34 years of age, who meet the definition of Black in the B-BBEE codes)

| • |
African, Indian or Coloured females
|
|
Individuals or Enterprises with Property Development Interest
Applicants who own or have access to land in a coastal market and are interested in understanding its potential for fuel retail or other commercial development are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements
This initiative forms part of Sasol's Enterprise and Supplier Development and broader transformation efforts. The eligibility and demographic criteria are therefore informed by the objectives and recognition requirements of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Codes of Good Practice, including the applicable definitions used to determine qualifying beneficiaries.
Accordingly:

Applicants must meet the applicable South African citizenship requirements for recognition as Black people under the B-BBEE framework; and

Applicants registering as individuals will be required to submit a clear copy of their South African identity document.
|
|
| • |
Applicants registering through an existing business must submit a valid B-BBEE affidavit or B-BBEE certificate, a clear copy of their South African identity document and CIPC document.
